It Cosmetics Vitality Face Disc Review

20140717_145313

Hi guys thanks for coming back to my blog.

So I promised a review of the It Cosmetics Live, Love, Laugh Vitality Face Disc with Drops of Light Technology and I must say for the most part it really works for me.  I picked mine up from QVC which is my favorite place to get It Cosmetics, many of the products offered by QVC have a brush included for just an extra $10.00 or so where if you get it on the It Cosmetics web site or Ulta they will not have the brush offer.  The brush that came with mine was the  Jumbo Heavenly Luxe Mega-Brush which if purchased alone on QVC or the It Cosmetics website, would be $58.00.  On QVC I paid $48.50 for the disk and brush, the disk alone is $38.00.  I have never had good customer service in Ulta and you can’t get It Cosmetics at Sephora.  QVC has a great return policy as well as easy pay options on a few products, unfortunately easy pay isn’t currently offered on this product right now.

Vertical flipThe bronzer in this palette is a matte finish.  I find it is darker and less orange than say NYC’s Sunny and a touch darker than Two Faced Chocolate Soleil with the same neutral undertones.  The bronzer doesn't come off orange at all on my skin tone.  It leaves a natural shadow when I use it to contour and it blends out with ease.

The blush is a cool pink with a hint of coral with a slight shimmer, however the shimmer doesn't come off on the cheeks leaving a more satin finish over shimmer.  It also blends very easily and gives a natural pinched or light burn look.  I use this blush often, it goes very well with my tan lending itself to the slightly pink cheek that I would have after a little to long in the sun.

20140717_145807
The highlight in this trio is a champagne shimmer and can look very disco ball if you don’t use a light hand.  This also blends out beautifully but I think it has a less natural look unlike the other products in this palette.  I wish it was a little more of a natural highlight rather than the heavy iridescence that comes off on the skin, you can easily overdue it so start light, better to add than take away.  It will blend easily but you end up with to much highlight in places you didn’t intend for it to be.

The palette is my favorite product to use right now for contour and blush.  I find I’m reaching for this bronzer over my Soleil Tan De Chanel, which was my favorite last month and my Two Faced Chocolate Soleil.  The entire palette is finely milled and as I said before is so easy to blend out to a natural finish, with the exception of the highlight.  I find myself reaching for my Hourglass Ambient lighting palette over the included highlighter, it’s my favorite for highlight, I love it and want to use it everyday if possible, it’s just a beautiful finish to any look.  It Cosmetics is a cruelty free company and their products have things included in them that are said to be good for your skin. According to their website this product includes anti-aging ingredients hydrating ingredients, including hydrolyzed collagen, acai, green tea, and vitamins A, C, and E. Talc, paraben, sulfate, mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, and phthalate free. Hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenicAlthough it’s disappointing to see parabens and sulfates it’s not something that keeps me away.  One last thing, it doesn't settle into fine lines!  That is becoming a huge thing for me.  I didn't realize how bad that does look until I tried a very cheap blush, Horrifying!

Thanks for reading!  I’m working on part 3 of my “On The Daily” series.  This will be the final installment and it will cover concealer, contour, blush and finishing powder.  I wish you all the best and thanks again for stopping by.

Much Love and God Bless,

On The Daily Pt. 2

Hi Guys!

So I’m back.  We finally got moved into our new house over 4th of July weekend and I have spent the last week unpacking and getting things put away.  No more excuses for me, I am back to work writing beauty blogs for you.  I have so many goals for not only the blog but the nonprofit I am starting.  I had no idea just how much paper work is involved with getting a nonprofit status from the federal government.  Hopefully I will figure it all out sooner than later and get things rolling.  I want to start helping women out and the sooner I get this paper work done the better.

I posted a “On The Daily Pt. 1” way back on the 23rd of June, part 2 is running very late but here we go.  I only go through my It Cosmetics CC+, I had started with moisturizer and going in the order of products as I put them on.  We went through “Skin Prep” now I move on to eyes.

Eyes

Two Faced Shadow Insurance Primer: I have been using this primer since I got it with my Chocolate Bar Palette.  I have used several different shadow primers over the last 2 years and I really can’t tell a huge difference except when I use one that is horrible.  I’ve been lucky because I got the 4 samples of Urban Decay primer with my Naked 3 palette then the full size with the Chocolate Bar palette, the only one I’ve bought lately is a NYX HD and it all works the same.  I might see a big difference if I had oily eyelids or needed staying power.  Regardless if you can get one free or super cheap that works best for me.  I’ve always said spend the money on the foundation and your house will stand longer i.e. skin care, moisturizers, primers and foundation.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk: I have found that no matter what shadow I’m using it still looks best with a white base behind it.  The NYX pencil formula is my favorite. I just dot some around my eyelid then blend it out with my finger, easy and I like easy.

Insert your favorite shadow here…  I change up almost daily… However my new Makeup Geek shadows are some of my new favorites.  I have my first Z palette here and you can see my starter kit around the right side with the new awesome Makeup Geek blushes in the middle.  You just can’t beat the quality for the price.  The starter kit is sold out but it’s worth it to wait for them to come back into stock, you can still grab a few of the blushes, most are sold out but I counted 6 out of 13 that are still available.  Mascara and Liners are the same way, I’ve not really found my HG on either one of those.  I just bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz 2 days ago and so far I’m loving it.

z palette

House of Lashes Au Naturale: I watch a ton of YouTube beauty videos and I have seen dozens talking about the House of Lashes lash glue and lashes.  So I am horrible at applying falsies and I prayed this would be the answer to my false lash prayers.  Although it does work beautifully I still have a huge handicap when I try to use them.  This glue does however make it ten times easier as well as the lashes themselves.  The lash case is just to die for so I got the deal 2 for $10.  I did just check and they are sold out on their page so keep checking back.

House of lashes

So to keep from boring you to tears I will continue this another day.  I will finish up with concealer, contour, blush and setting powder, give you something to look forward to.  I am also working on a post comparing 2 nail polish subscription boxes, Julep Maven and the all new Square Hue.  Also coming soon is a review of my new It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Vitality Face Disc, just a quick preview, I’m loving it.

Much Love and God Bless,

We Have A HOUSE!!!

front of house

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

Just wanted to make a quick post to let you know we finally found a house.  We will be moving over the weekend and hopefully I will be up and going by the middle of next week.  I will have cable on Tuesday so I will try to get the 2nd half of my haul as well as the rest of my “On the Daily” series ready and posted to my blog.  Another plus is we will have the fastest internet speed in the country, 1Gb!  My husband thinks this is the greatest thing ever.

Thanks for sticking with me and coming back to my blog.  I hit 128 views in a single day last week and I cried.  I have many goals for the next year and everything has just been on hold until we moved.  No more excuses after this weekend, I will be off and running.  I hope you continue to join me on my journey and help me with any comments you might have for what I should post in the future.  I also plan to get my nonprofit off the ground very soon as well, it is something very important to me and is heavy on my heart to help women that are experiencing the same struggles that I have fought through.  It is still a daily struggle but one that is easier day by day.  With a firm faith in a higher power, anything is possible.

I will see you soon!

Much Love and God Bless,

As promised.. It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream + Anti Aging Hydrating Serum SPF 50+ UVA/UVB… Review

Now that is a lot of title for this amazing little tube of product. Hi guys thanks for coming back.  I have been talking about this in my blog for a while now.  It has been listed in my part 1 of my holy grail daily use products as well as in a birthday haul.  Oh yeah and one I forgot was the It Cosmetics Game Changer post.  I don’t have to tell you I have a real love of It Cosmetics but the true admiration is for the CC+ cream.  I really never believed I could have the coverage I needed from a CC cream.  This one is it.

It Cosmetics CC

If you follow my blog you already know I am in my early 40’s and I have been on a mission to halt all signs of aging from marching across my face.  The entire point of this post started getting lost in my drug history so if you are interested you can follow this thought to here.

Paste

So the CC+ cream seems pretty easy to match.  It comes in 5 color choices, Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Rich.  The color I have is Light.  I was a little worried at first because I have been self tanning but it really seems to work regardless of my use of a self tanner.  You get 1.08 fl. oz. in a tube with a pump on it, I love this type of product with a pump, it just makes things less messy.  I have had mine since the middle of May so I have been using it fairly frequently for 6 weeks and I still have maybe 1/4th of the product left.  It takes about 2 pumps if I cover my entire face with it, 1 if I just use it in the areas of uneven tone or I mix an illuminating  BB cream with it like the one from Gerard (Whitening Lightning).  I pump it unto the back of my hand then use the Makeup Geek Foundation Stippling brush to apply it then I use my Real Techniques makeup sponge to finish it off.  I find that I just need one coat to cover any imperfections as well as to even out uneven skin tone, it really doesn’t take a lot of this stuff.  Keep in mind I always moisturize and I only use a primer in the places I need it like my T zone.

As you can probably already tell I really love this product.  The pros for me are 1. Full coverage 2. Easy color matching and blends well whether I am self-tanning or not 3. Feels light on my skin 4. It’s good for your skin, especially aging skin like mine.  Cons 1. It cost $38.00  This is really the only negative for me.  If you order any of the It Cosmetics from QVC you may receive a sample size of this product, I did when I ordered the New Year New You collection.  I would suggest trying it from there or Ulta, somewhere that has a really great return policy.  I always like to try any foundation type product before I drop that much on it and sampling is the way to go.  Unfortunately Sephora doesn’t carry It Cosmetics and Ulta doesn’t give out samples, not my location anyway.  I was very happy with mine and I hope if you give it a go you are too.

As always thank you so much for reading my blog and look for part 2 of my daily holy grail products.  I will finish up with all the color, eyes, cheeks and lips.  I am also giving the Sephora 10 hour liquid foundation a go.  Today is the first day I have worn it and so far so good.

Much Love and God Bless,

On The Daily, Part 1

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

So I have been struggling as I have said in previous posts with just having enough room to move around.  I’m sure a lot of you know if you are unorganized and there is a lot of clutter around it’s very hard to think.  Your mind is in the same shape as your surroundings.  So even though I have things as well organized as possible it’s still pretty bad.  I have put all of my plans for this blog, future YouTube channel and most importantly my nonprofit on hold until we move.  The problem is we haven’t, I thought we would have found something and I would have been completely unpacked and half way to normal long before now.  I believe everything happens for a reason and my grandmother has really needed someone here for the first time ever.  She is very independent and has never had any health issues until lately.  I have touched briefly on her pinched nerve and if everything goes as planned after Monday, and a 2nd steroid injection, she will be back to doing everything she has always done for herself.  For 86 years old she is defiantly an exception to the rule and I admire her very, very much.  (BTW The injection went very well!)

I was watching my YouTube subscription videos this morning, as usual, and everyone has been doing a summer essentials video.  I decided I would do a daily essentials because I have never done a GRWM or anything similar so this is it.  I have found some true holy grail products in the last couple of months.  Since I am struggling to get everything else off the ground I figured this would be easy since everything in this blog post is kept very close and it’s not packed in a box, stacked in a closet or way back in the back of a large storage building.  I’ve gone back and cut this into a 2 part series because it was getting so long I don’t want to bore you guys so lets get started…

Skin Prep

Tea Tree Soap: I have talked extensively about my skin care routine on this blog.  I am still using the Theraderm once a day in the evening.  In the morning I wash my face with an organic Tea Tree soap.  Since I am using so much at night and I believe it is possible to over exfoliate and take away natural oils your skin needs I keep it simple in the morning.  This just keeps my face free of bacteria and preventing any bacterial breakouts.  Be careful not to get Tea Tree oil in your eyes, it is very irritating and it burns badly.

truth serumOle Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster: Since I got the 3 little wonders from Sephora I have used them all up with the exception of this serum.  I use it after I wash my face and it seems to brighten my skin.  It claims to have many benefits like supporting natural cell turnover, repairing cell damage as well as providing natural vitamin C.  It smells good too.  A little bit goes a long way and I believe I will repurchase this when it’s empty.

protect the truthOle Henriksen Protect the Truth SPF 50+: This was one of the products that came in the Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit that I included in my Birthday Haul post.  I firmly believe in wearing SPF everyday no matter what the season is, I believe my lack of sun exposure and tanning bed ban has directly kept my skin looking very youthful and healthy.  This is a great one that has vitamin C in it and gives you the extra protection from the sun with the high SPF.  It doesn’t smell like SPF and has the wonderful vitamin C and great orange aroma.  It blends in easily and is sheer enough to wear under your favorite moisturizer.

moisturizerTheraderm Facial Moisturizer: Thick, oil free moisturizer that is included in my skin care system.  I use it twice a day both as my moisturizer under my makeup in the morning as well as my nighttime moisturizer after my nightly skin care routine using my Theraderm system.  I’ve done a few posts about the Theraderm you can go back and read if you are interested in this system by Therapon, the above link is for the entire 12 posts that include Theraderm.

Hourglass primerHourglass N° 28 Primer Serum: I love this primer!  It is expensive so I don’t use it daily but I would if it was more reasonably priced.  This does however come in 2 sizes 0.33 for $22.00 or 1.0 FL oz for $65.00 on Sephora.com.  My foundation goes on effortlessly and stays put all day even in this heat and humidity.  The serum is so silky and I love the feel of it on my skin.  It is oil based and my dry skin drinks it in but it doesn’t have a greasy feel to it at all.  I just really love Hourglass products I wish they weren’t so expensive but the ones I’ve tried so far are worth every penny.

It Cosmetics CCIt Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+: If you haven’t seen or read anything about this product from It Cosmetics you are living under a rock.  This is one of those products people are passionate about, they either love it so much or really just hate it.  Most, including myself love it.  I have some really uneven skin tone and most CC creams just do not have the coverage I need to feel comfortable.  This is the first one I’ve tried that is absolutely full coverage with options.  You can sheer this out to cover like a traditional CC cream or you can build it up for the full coverage you would only expect out of a liquid or cream foundation.  The “+” is it is good for your skin and it has an SPF of 50 without all of the usual unwanted effects of wearing a heavy SPF.  The only thing I dislike about this product is the price.  It is comparable to any mid range price of foundation but I love it so much I use it every day and that can get expensive.  You get 1.08 FL oz. for $38.00.  I did find it on QVC for $34.68 plus $4.47 S&H so you really aren’t saving anything unless you can find it on flex pay and you can spread the cost across a couple of months.  QVC also offers this on auto delivery every 60 days and if you can catch it on TSV you can lock in the price offered that day.

I went ahead a chopped this post down as well.  I talk a lot in my day to day life so I guess it directly translates to my blogging, sorry if it's to long.  Thanks again and I will follow with the rest of my daily favorites here in a day or so.

Much Love and God Bless,

Top Coat.. To Spend or Not To Spend?

Top Coats

Hi Guys thanks for coming back. Just let me start by saying sorry it’s been so long between posts.  As you already know, if you follow my blog, we are between homes and staying with my grandmother.  She is having some trouble with a pinched nerve in her back and I have been spending some time helping her out.  She doesn't need a lot but I have been driving her to work and so on so she will not have to walk as far.  And yes my 86 year old grandmother still works 2 to 3 days a week, God bless her.

The house hunt is getting the best of me.  I swear I never thought it would be this hard to find a house to rent.  Chattanooga is in the midst of a financial boom.  With the fastest, cheapest internet in the whole country, Chattanooga is now known as the Gig city, internet startups that really can take advantage of the speed and cost of the speed offered as well as new jobs from Volkswagen and Amazon who have large facilities in the area and are still growing, well lets just say housing is snatched up as soon as it is posted.  The rent is pretty high as well once you cross the Georgia/Tennessee line.  We are looking at paying around $1000 per month for a 2 bedroom in a decent area.  There are a lot of areas that have had revitalization programs and are coming back better than ever.  When I was growing up downtown Chattanooga was a ghost town after 5:00 p.m. and now that’s when things really start to pick up.  The city has done a wonderful job and it shows in not only the industry that has come but in the tourists that now flock to the city to see the Tennessee Aquarium, The Incline, Rock City and Ruby Falls.  If you have never been to Chattanooga check it out, it’s not just about a train anymore.

So I have been bitten by the nail polish bug lately.  Of course you can spend anywhere from $2.00 for Wet and Wild polish to $27.00 for a bottle of Chanel polish.  There are subscription boxes dedicated to nail polish and accessories as well as hundreds of thousands of Pintrest boards dedicated to beautiful nail art.  I have started buying more polish than I used to.  Up until I was in my late 20’s I was a nail bitter.  The last cruise I took with my mother was the event that really made me decide to stop.  We weren’t even on the boat yet when one of my acrylic nails broke off.  That of course ruined the whole look and it just pissed me off.  Back then we didn’t have a nail salon on every corner and it was $40 at least for a full set.  So when I had to get on that boat one nail short I decided I would have my own nails the next time I sailed.  Of course my nails are brittle and break easily, but I haven’t had acrylic nails on since.  That was about 15 years ago and I love to paint my nails but it wasn’t until recently that I was so adamant about them looking perfect.
I believe I know the best way to paint my nails.  I know to use a base coat, I know to use the center stroke then 1 down each side, I know to run the polish across the end of the nail to create a seal to prevent chipping and use a top coat to bring it all together and seal it up.  I try to keep layers from being to thick so that the polish dries faster and it doesn't dent when you press in on the nail.  That being said my polish was chipping within a day or 2.

So back when I wrote the review about Wet and Wild Megalast polish I wasn’t having this problem, I even packed up a house and moved 350 miles then unpacked into a storage unit.  So I had been using Sally Hansen Dries Instantly 30 Second Top Coat up until I got to the bottom of the bottle and it became pretty goopy and I threw it out.  So instead of buying another Sally Hansen top coat I got one of the cheaper ones, Nutra Nail Speed Dry Top Coat.  About the same time I ordered a Julip Maven monthly subscription box with a coupon for my first box free.  I believe the coupon code is FREEBOX, I will update this post if I find out it’s different.  From what I could see on the internet about Julip and from the cost of a single bottle I believed I had a pretty high quality polish.  I know it’s not Chanel but I believed it to be up there with OPI for example.  I used a bottom coat, 2 thin coats of polish and the Nutra Nail top coat.  It had chipped by noon the next day, not even 24 hours after I polished them.  I had let them dry for an hour and babied them for the rest of the night after I polished them, they shouldn’t have chipped so quickly.

A couple of days ago having the same results with any and all polish I decided that it wasn’t due to my polish but my top coat.  I found a bottle of the Nicole by OPI on sale and purchased it.  Now before you say, hey that’s not a high quality top coat, it’s better than the Nutra Nail, that’s of course if you judge quality by the price….  Back to the chipping problem, they wore another day or 2 longer but still chipped.  So I’m not real sure if this is the problem or the answer.  I need more research and I need a better top coat.  Up until recently I had been skipping the base coat step and I am paying for that with discolored nails.  So maybe it’s the base coat, maybe it was better when I wasn’t using one.  I had found a bottle of Wet and Wild strengthening nail polish in the bathroom at my grandmothers house.  This bottle of polish might be considered antique.  So I am off to buy a better top coat and maybe even a base coat that isn’t as old as I am.  I did find the Sinfulcolors top coat on clearance for $0.99.  I really do like the quality of their polish and at under $2.00 you can afford to change colors everyday.  If you have any suggestions about what I might need to do differently or what brand top coat might work better I am open to suggestion.

I really wanted to get a post up so you guys wouldn’t think I had moved on to something else.  I know, like I said in my opening paragraph, that I am lacking in my frequency of blogs.  I still have a head full of ideas for my program to help women who have been incarcerated.  I think I am at the point where I just do not know what to do next.  I’ve been using mind mapping to pull my ideas into a cohesive plan.  I have untreated adult attention deficit disorder and it is hard to pull ideas into something tangible sometimes.  Just know it is my passion and so is this blog.  Beauty products and everything that goes with it is the one thing I have stuck with longer than a typical commercial break.  Thank you all for reading and I appreciate the continued prayers and support.  When I solve my nail top coat/base coat problem I will get back to you.

Much Love and God Bless,

As Requested Epielle BB Cream Review

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

So I had a reader comment today about wanting a review for the Epielle BB Cream sold at Big Lots and other discount locations.

Lulu June 10, 2014 at 10:57 PM
“Yes, please if you can do a review of the Epielle BB cream, that would be great. Our Grocery Outlet sells it for $1.99. A great deal for a made in Korea bb cream, I think.”

If you are a Big Lots shopper you might already be familiar with the makeup removing wipes that this company sells that come in a couple of different options.  I know there is a cucumber and maybe 3 or more different kinds with this brand.  They retail for I believe a $1.00 for 50 wipes and I’ve used them fairly often with good results.  I never had any resulting breakouts or negative reaction to them.  The wipes themselves are medium size, soft and do a great job of taking off your makeup and even hard to remove eye makeup.

The BB cream was something I had seen in a blog post somewhere and was excited to see in my local Big Lots.  I had a post where I boasted about how wonderful the H&B department was at my location and in it I had listed this BB cream with a promise of review and I’m sorry it took Lulu asking for it.  In all honesty I had forgotten because I no longer use this product.

At first I thought the BB cream was wonderful.  It seem to have great coverage for a BB cream and when mixed with my foundation, Estee Lauder Resilience Lift and buffed in, it created a dewy finish.  It wasn’t until I was in the car on day 2 of wearing it.  I looked in the mirror in the day time after wearing it for only a couple of hours and noticed it was breaking up, bad, especially around my nose and across my forehead at my hairline.  The finish was nothing like it had been when I first put it on.  Just for information I do have dry / combo skin so I was very surprised it was doing this on my face.  I’ve seen this more with oily skin, but haven’t experienced it much myself.

Shortly after buying this BB cream I bought the It Cosmetics CC cream from QVC and really forgot about the Epielle BB Cream.  I am sorry to say that I was just so unhappy with it in the car that day that once I was wearing the It Cosmetics product I just packed it away and forgot about it.  If you read my blog often you are aware of my current living situation and our desperate hunt for a house, which we still haven’t found.  So room is very limited here at my Nannies house not really in area but in the fact that it’s her house and I’m trying to keep all my makeup and products put away best I can.  I have already taken over the formal dinning room table for a dressing table.

So in closing would I recommend getting the Epielle BB Cream?  Yes and No, if you are young with great skin, sure give it a try but if you have any problematic skin or aging skin, I might spend my $2.00 on a bottle of Wet and Wild polish or any of the other great beauty find at Big Lots.  On second thought who am I to judge.  Grab and bottle and go to town!  We are all beautiful no matter how good the Epielle BB Cream works.

Thanks a million Lulu I hope this helps and thanks for reading my blog today.  Every time I see the counter go up  I am so humbled by it.  I am so blessed, thank you so much for coming back.  I promise to blog more often as soon as we move and I am comparing cameras for YouTube videos.  I am working on a full review this weekend of the It Cosmetics CC cream, for the most part I just love everything I have gotten from them. I will be getting my nonprofit, Makeup for a 2nd Chance off the ground soon as well.

Much Love and God Bless,

It Cosmetics.. GAME CHANGER?

Hi guys, thanks for coming back to my blog.

So if you subscribe to the It Cosmetics email, It Insider, you received a very interesting announcement in your inbox this morning.  The subject line reads NEW! Game-Changer! It’s Your Confidence in a Compact.  I remember it wasn’t  to long ago that Bare Minerals was saying the same thing about Bare Skin, many agree.

Apparently they are releasing a new type of foundation never seen before.  It’s called CC+ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation and it comes in a compact like their celebration foundation but it’s a fluid foundation.  This comes in 5 colors fair, light, medium, tan and rich and it claims, as many of their other products do, that it is anti-aging, hydrating and color-correcting “Brighten complexion, improve skin tone, and minimize pores and fine lines”.  The email explains that it is a beauty fluid that is dispensed through a cushion type mechanism unlike any product on the market.  Like many of the It Cosmetics face products it contains a SPF of 50+ UVA/UVB and that is something I adore with these products.  The ones I have experience with do not contain the tell tell fragrance of SPF and I know a lot of women just do not like wearing SPF for that reason.  It also claims to be “anti-aging armor with skin-perfecting technology” It Cosmetics web page also lists many of those good for your skin ingredients in this foundation “Anti-Aging Peptides, Niacin, Algae, Vitamins A, C, B, E, Hyaluronic Acid, and Hydrolyzed Collagen”.  Unlike most CC creams, I guess this is where the + comes in this is a medium to full buildable coverage.

I have a bit of experience with It Cosmetics.  The first products I purchased was the 5 piece collection on QVC, New Year, Your Most
Beautiful You.  This collection included..

1. 2 in 1 Bye Bye Under Eye/Hello Light Brightener
2. Celebration Foundation
3. Heavenly Luxe Double Airbrush Foundation Brush
4. Feel The Moment Anti Aging Serum Primer
5. Heavenly Luxe Sensory Sweeping Fan Brush
You can find my post about the collection here.

I won’t repeat everything and bore you to death but I love it.  I still have a bit of the primer serum, I’m saving the last little bit, as well as the rest of the collection although I have used it frequently.  It included a sample of the CC cream which I ordered the full size on my birthday and use daily.

I also have the Naturally Pretty Palette, that I included in my March favorites.  I’ve seen a lot of positive and negative reviews for this palette so my advice would be put your hands on it, check it out and make sure if you purchase this palette you get it from somewhere you can return it if you are unhappy.

The CC+ Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation can be found on the It Cosmetics website for $38.00 for 0.34 fl. Oz. and I included the link above ^^^.  I would like to see more product for that price but it’s not way off base for the brand.  The foundation comes with a  “non-absorbing puff applicator”.  Also keep in mind this is called a CC+ foundation and it says on the website that it can be used on top of your moisturizer or in place of your moisturizer as well as primer, foundation and sunscreen.

I used my It Insider email and the It Cosmetics website for all of this information so if you have any other questions you may be able to find your answer there.  I personally believe Jamie Kern is a genius when it comes to makeup for women who are dealing with aging skin and I hope to have this in hands and on my face very, very soon.

Thanks for coming by and as always..

Birthday Haul Pt. 2 & May Favorites

Hi guys, thanks for coming back to my blog.

I want to continue my birthday haul post now and my May favorites, they kinda go along with the haul because there are so many products I got for my birthday that have become quick favorites.  So instead of making separate posts I decided to just combine them somehow, I’m just winging it as I go along so bare with me.

Birthday Haul Pt. 2

Sephora Continued

TARTE Brazilliance™ Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Face And Body Self Tanner

Tarte Self Tanner

So I have tried a couple of different self tanners since spring begun, St. Tropez, Lorac and this is my definite favorite.  I posted about the Xen-Tan for the face and I really do like that one but I hadn’t found anything for the body that I liked until I used the Tarte self-tanner.  If you are someone who really requires a guide color you will not like this because there really isn’t one.  It comes out of the tube a gel like consistency and it is a very dark tan color, however once you rub it in the color disappears completely and you just have to go on faith that you have hit all the right spots.  It comes with the mit and it works very well to distribute the product evenly.  I have been wearing  it for 2 weeks and I haven’t experienced any streaking or uneven color.  I use a thick balm on my heels and elbows before I use the tanner so it doesn't absorb heavily around those dry areas.  I have sort of fell into a schedule for application.  I shave and exfoliate my legs with a body sugar scrub every other day prior to application.  I know most people like to apply self-tanners at night before bed but I have found I like to apply it in the morning after my shower and prior to applying my makeup.  The only complaint I really have is it stays sticky longer than I would like it to and in the bend of your elbows  it can rub off as you bend your arms if you do not spend enough time with your arms straight until it dry's.  I’m not sure how long it lasts because I reapply it every other day.  The one bottle has lasted me for 2 weeks and I still have approximately 1/2 of a bottle and I apply it to arms, legs, shoulders and decollete.  I’m really not sensitive as some people can be to the smell of self-tanners but I don’t believe this one is strong at all.  *This is a May favorite*

CIATÉ Very Colourfoil Manicure™

Ciate Foil Kit

(Kiss Chase #101)

So I have been seeing this nail art kit on the Sephora’s sale page.  I had never tried the CIATÉ brand nail polish so I thought with the kit being on sale and all, well why not.  I am so glad I did.  Apparently this brand is the leader in transforming top coats and all kinds of weird effects in the world of nail art.  I really like this polish.  It doesn't drag or streak and it goes on very opaque after just one coat.  I will be the first person to tell you I am not artistic at all, so most any nail art that requires that ability is out for me.  The foils that came with this kit are beautiful and they come in a wide range of colors.  You only need one square to do all 10 finger nails although I did mix 2 colors for my first go.  This kit also comes with the glue needed to apply the foil.  It’s so simple, paint, dry, glue, foil, top coat and go.  I liked this brand of polish so much I went back to Sephora and grabbed the 3 for $18 deal.  I couldn’t find this option on the web page but I did purchase it in store.

Ciate Mini

(PPM188 Pucker Up, PPM007 Members Only, PPM185 Mineral Love)

Of course the bottles are only .17 fl. Oz compared to the large bottle that came inside this kit which was 0.46 fl.Oz.  Apparently you can’t order directly from the company here in the states because they do not ship to North America but there are plenty of places you can find this brand including Sephora, Nordstrom and Amazon just to name a few.  You can usually find one of the nail art kits like this one on Sephora’s sale page as well.

Bite Beauty Vivid Luminous Crème Lipstick Duo

Bite open tube

(Violet / Palomino)

So if you are taking air into your lungs you have heard of or experienced Bite Beauty lip products.  Bite Beauty is an exclusive brand just for lips.  I know a lot of women have a special place in their heart for lipstick and lip products in general but this takes it to a whole new level.  The lip products that Bite Beauty makes are an exception to every rule, they smell good, taste good, feel good and wear on the lip so very long it’s not natural.  I just didn’t understand all the hype attached to these lip products so I grabbed one of the lipstick duos that Sephora has at the register.  The duo’s come in two different color options, a bright option, pictured above in Violet and Palomino and a nude option in Lychee and Musk.  So the first duo I bought was the nude option and I would love to include a picture and swatch but, what can I say, I used it up.  It is a small amount in each end only .05 Oz per side and the product is so soft and creamy that it just melts onto your lips.  I will defiantly be getting one of the Deconstructed Rose colors or the Deconstructed Rose Lip Gloss Library, you have to check it out in person.  It is a limited edition part of the line and a must have.  The Agave Lip Mask is apparently a wonderful item as well and permanent to the line so grab it when you can, you have time on this one but don’t pass out when you see the price, it has huge sticker shock with the $26.00 price tag for a lip balm.

Amazon

Makeup Geek Brushes: Foundation Stippling Brush, Cheek Highlighter Brush, Small Crease Brush

makeupgeek brushes2

makeupgeek brushes

So if you have been a regular reader of my blog then you already know just how much I love Makeup Geek brushes.  These are the new and improved Makeup Geek brushes and holy cow, my new, never leave home without them, always in my bag, use every time I put makeup on my face, holy grail brushes.  I only ordered 3 and it wasn’t because I wasn’t sure about them it was simply a money issue.  Lets just say I ran out of birthday funds a couple of items back and my husband rocks.   He was ordering a hard drive for his computer off of Amazon and I said well let me see what they carry in the beauty department.  I was able to grab these brushes for a dollar less per brush than you can get them for on the Makeup Geek site.  I have used all 3 brushes since I got them and they are wonderful.  As you know I have owed the original brushes from Makeup Geek for a couple of years and they are still my go to brushes.  As with the original brushes I haven’t experienced any shedding and they have been washed a couple of times as well as keeping their shape.  I plan to order the rest of the new brushes within the next 2 weeks with the exception of the ones that have already sold out.  The link above for the stippling brush goes to the Makeup Geek site because I can no longer find this one on Amazon, my advice is to hurry they are going quick and I think I seen September listed as the month they would be back.

Sigma Pencil Brush E-30

So I didn’t have this Sigma brush until 5 days after I received my other brushes so I don’t have a picture of this one but I know everyone reading this post probably knows what it looks like, if not you can follow the link above.  That will take you to the Amazon page for this brush and this one will take you to Sigmabeauty.com.  This is my first Sigma brush and I think I love it.  It is so soft and my whole look for my bottom lash line as well as inside corner is drastically different and so much better.  I believe I will order the essential kit next, it is recommended as a great place to start.  Although I was able to order the Sigma brush from Amazon unlike Makeup Geek I didn’t get as big a saving, it was only a penny.  All of the Sigma products are exactly the same price pretty mush, as they are on Sigma’s web page.  I’m unsure of the difference in shipping because I have never ordered from Sigma and I’m not a Amazon Prime customer.  This brush is out of stock on Sigma’s page.

May Favorites

So with all of these new items it has been a hard list to make.  So lets go back to the Haul Pt. 1.  My Clarisonic Pro is definitely on my favorites list.  I have wanted one for so long and it works like everyone said it would.  Love it for so many reasons but the first reason is it will help save my face from looking any older than it is.  My next favorite from the 1st post would have to be my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.  Like I said in the haul I just can’t put my finger on why it just makes everything glow.  The Hourglass N° 28 Primer Serum is the same way.  My skin stays hydrated and I have cut way back on the amount of coverage I’m wearing.  I have cut out my foundation completely.  I simply use my Hourglass N° 28 Primer Serum and then the 3rd May favorite my It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Full Coverage Physical SPF50 CC Cream.  I have been applying this with the Makeup Geek stippling brush and it gives me all the coverage I need.  I really need to go back and give credit where credit is due and that is my skin care.  I have continued with my Theraderm system, I’m on the 3rd travel size because it is so cheap $10 compared to shelling out the $140 for the full size.  Of course lets go ahead and add the OLE HENRIKSEN3 Little Wonders to the favorites list for May.  I really believe this is what it took to give the my skin the little push I was looking for.  It really seems to glow without any makeup, not that I would go without anything in public, but I have took it way down as I said before.

So I have covered everything I believe.  I have included skin care, Clarisonic and Ole Henriksen.  I have talked about makeup with the  It Cosmetics, Hourglass products, Bite Beauty and the tools to put it on with, the amazing Makeup Geek brushes as well as the Sigma pencil brush.  I have included a couple of nail products, even a self-tanner.  The one thing I am missing, something for the inside….

Plus White 5 Minute Premier Whitening System

Pluswhite

This $7.00 teeth whitening system really works, I am blown away.  I have been using it for about 2 weeks and I believe my teeth are probably at least 5 shades whiter than they were.  You can pick this up at Wal-Mart and it contains everything you need plus a coupon.

Julep Maven Box Free

lf you get any subscription boxes you know how awesome they can be.  I have gotten Starbox, Ipsy Bag and a Zamplebox for vapors, they kindly sent me a free box after my husband lost his job, but I haven’t gotten any of the first boxes free.  With a coupon code, I’ve seen several versions, you can get your first Julep Maven box free.  It usually costs $19.99 plus $3.99 shipping and handling.  So I used the code FREEBOX and it worked.  I paid the $3.99 shipping and handling and I had my box within 3 days.  I got to choose from a few different boxes so I chose the one with 2 polishes and a blush, a very nice blush that I will have pictures of very soon.

So I think that is all guys.  Once again thank you so very much for stopping by and catching up with me.  I am so sorry it is so long but I guess that’s what happens when you get as far behind as I did.

Much Love and God Bless,

Belated Birthday Haul Pt. 1 and Life Update

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

So a quick update to what happened with our move.  I had told you all about the wonderful house we found and had been approved for but I never came back and posted anything here about what came about with that house.  I had updated my Facebook page but to let everyone else know we did not get the house we so wanted to rent.  The people who owned that property wanted us to do some weird things in regards to us supplying the refrigerator instead of paying the pet deposit.  After careful consideration we just felt that we were losing out on the deal and they just didn’t want to work with us on that and a few other concerns we had.  Chris and I just felt it was best to look at something else and not get into something we might regret later on.  So we are still staying with my grandmother which is fine except for the lack of space.  We have so much still boxed up of course and it is just so hard to get my little photo studio out for pictures and everything is just a lot more difficult when I try to do things with products and swatches.  I don’t think that is an excuse for my lack of posts here, I have just had so many things going on with house hunting and helping my Nanny out with a back injury.  I decided Sunday that I was going to do what ever it took to get this post put together and up for you guys, you deserve better.  So thanks for sticking in and here we go.

These are a few things that I have gotten for my birthday and picked up during the beauty clearance sales at CVS and Walgreens.  A few of these items I did have to wait on because I ordered them online.  Ebates has had some really great cash back deals this month so I took advantage of as many as I could.  I believe this month was like their anniversary for I believe 10 years but a lot of the cash back was 15% so I might be wrong on the 10 years thing but I believe it’s over nevertheless.

QVC

Clarisonic Pro

Clarisonic

I know I have wrote a ton about the Theraderm system I use to cleanse my face and the Dermabrush I have that I use along with it.  I finally broke down and got the Clarisonic Pro from QVC.  I went ahead and ordered the Pro version that comes with the charging cradle, sensitive brush head, body brush head, choice of color, Bliss body and Bliss face wash.  QVC has this on flexpay as well.

It Cosmetics Anti-Aging Full Coverage Physical SPF50 CC Cream

It Cosmetics CCI have loved all of the products I have gotten from It Cosmetics.  I had gotten a sample of the CC cream with my It Cosmetics New Year Your Most Beautiful You 5pc. Collection, this collection isn’t available from QVC at this time.  I have seen mixed reviews on YouTube but one review and tutorial just sold me on it.  It was from MakeupByTiffanyD on her summer foundation routine.   Her skin is beautiful to start with but it glowed after she used the CC cream as a light base.  I’ve been using it for about a week now and I do love it.  I have been eyeing the first palette by It called IT Cosmetics Luxe High Performance Eye Shadow Palette, this link is from QVC who also carries it along with Ulta.  I believe it came out 2 years ago and I would love to hear from anyone who may have that palette.

Sephora

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

Hourglass palette

One of the items at the top of my wish list.  This is just icing on the cake.  This palette makes everything just glow.  It’s nothing you can put your finger on, I really can’t say exactly what it does but it does it so well.  I use my Makeup Geek cheek highlight brush to sweep the lightest color under my eyes and set my concealer with it.  I then use the same brush and the darkest color and sweep it over my bronzer.  I then take my large powder brush and run it over the entire palette and swirl it all over my face using it as my setting powder.  It is a must have in my humble opinion.  You can also see this palette used in the above mentioned video by TiffanyD as part of her foundation routine.

Hourglass N° 28 Primer Serum

Hourglass primer 2This is Hourglass’ primer serum which not only prepares your skin for foundation but locks in the moisture, it’s also an oil which protects your skin from outside pollutants.  This is touted as a 2 in 1 primer that treats and protects.  It has a silky soft texture that goes a long way so you don’t have to use much product at all.  It feels wonderful and makes foundation application effortless.  This primer is sold in 2 sizes.  I was very happy to have a choice that is not usually offered with high end products.  I was able to not only try the product but I will be able to get a good idea as to how well it works without spending the  $65.00 on a product that may not work for my skin type, which is what the 1 oz. size costs.  The smaller size is 0.33 oz. and is $22.00 at Sephora.com.

Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit

Sunsafety KitI’m not sure where I first seen this on YouTube but it was such a cute collection with a great price.  Sephora has several different “Sephora Favorites” and considering the temperature outside I thought this might be the best one to get for my first favorites collection.  This one has a great diversity of products yet they all revolve around keeping your skin safe from the sun or making it look like you were in the sun.  I have seen other women that I went to high school with and you can pick out the girls who spent everyday in the tanning bed or laying out in the sun.  I have several family members who work in the medical field including my mother.  She always warned me about the sun and that’s probably the one thing I did listen to her about.  I do have one dark spot on my cheek and I haven’t been able to get it to fade.  I will more than likely have to have this removed by a doctor using a laser or chemical peel.  I vow to prevent any further damage and I work hard to take very good care of my aging skin.  This collection includes several high SPF products, a mini Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and a mini Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Translucent.  There are a total of 16 products all from brands we know and trust.

So I’m going to make this a 2 part  haul so I won’t bore you so much at one time.  I am still working on my nonprofit and expect that once we get moved things will pick up for that as well as my blog.   I do have plans to do video as soon as I can buy a camera.  Not sure if I have the guts to record myself and put it out there but I’m going to give it a try.  IF you need any more information about these products that I haven’t included in this post just leave me a comment and I will get back to you very soon.  Thanks you all so much and don’t forget your sunscreen.

Much Love and God Bless,

Please Don’t Forget Me, We Got A House and I Am About To Move, AGAIN!!!

Hi guys, thanks for coming back!
If you have begun to wonder if I crawled under a rock and decided not to ever come out again, well close but not exactly.  I had told you about the big move from one state to another, well that took some time and effort.  It also left us scattered from one house to a storage room and beyond.  Also we have been staying with my wonderful Grandmother.  She was kind enough to open up her home to us until we could find a place of our own.  If you follow me on Facebook you already know we found a house this weekend.  We were beginning to get a bit worried.  The housing market in this area for rentals is very limited.  Chattanooga otherwise known as “The Gig City” is in the middle of a huge boom in new business and people moving to the area to open said business’.  The homes that were opening up were few and far between and most apartment complexes were full or close to it.  We really wanted a house though because of our little dog, Dolly, plus we just prefer a house over sharing walls with other families.  We lived in a large complex back in the mid 2000 when we lived in Knoxville, Tennessee and we decided then we would try our best to avoid this type of home in the future.
House
So after scanning every rental website and the classifieds we had found a few homes that we were interested in and they were located in the areas that we wanted to live in.  Most important was the location in relation to my husbands employer and praying that it would give him a quick commute to and from work.  We had looked at a house last week that we really liked but unfortunately it was just to small for our needs.  A week ago I was scanning Craigslist and a new ad was posted with what seemed like a perfect house for what we needed.  I called the number and a lovely women answered and told me a bit about the property and told me I could drive by just to see if it was something we might like to see.  So me and a friend drove by last week and I have to say I thought it would be perfect, at least by what I could see on the outside.  I called the lovely lady back and asked if we could see the inside and made a date for yesterday Sunday the 18th.  My requirements for a house were 2 bedrooms, laundry hookups, hardwood floors, fenced backyard and as stated before close to my husbands work.  Check, check, check, check and check!  Can we get it please, please, please?  Chris loved it as much as I did so that wasn’t a hard question to answer for him.  After an hour the owner, Phyllis, her name was a good sign, that was my mother’s name, game us an application and told us she really would like to see us in her mothers home.  We filled out the application, emailed it back to her son whom we had meet and within 15 minutes had our answer, YES!  You can move in this Saturday.
house deck
So not only have I been busy with the first move but I am about to be busy with a 2nd move.  The big difference is this move is going to be moving all of our things into a house that will be ours to decorate, coordinate and do all of this to our liking and taste.  I thought the last move we made would be my last one for awhile but God had a different plan and I am thankful for whatever it may be.
chris and I
Once we are moved in and unpacked somewhat I will return to, at the very least, 2 blog posts a day.  My short term goal is to buy a great camera for not only still pictures of products and swatches but videos.  I’m not sure how comfortable I will be on camera but you never know until you try and I do intend to try really hard.  If you have been reading my blog you also know about my nonprofit Makeup for a 2nd Chance.  I’m still unsure of what the final name will be and I do still intend to hold a poll so I can get your opinions.  It means a lot to have others chime in on this project.  I hope you don’t know what it feels like when you lose your mother who happened to be your best friend like mine was.  She was the trusted opinion and voice of encouragement and reason in my life, I really miss her and I miss not having her speak up on things I am trying.  Even putting on an outfit that I’m just not sure about, without her I’m still unsure.

Thanks for all your continued support.  I will be posting my birthday haul hopefully within a day or two.  I am going to at the very least put up a post about the move here and there.  If you live in the area and own a truck or trailer, by all means get in touch, lol…

Much Love and God Bless,

Birthday Brow Miracle and Some Theraderm Too

Hi guys, thanks for coming back.

I don’t think I have written about my horrible brow experience as well as my daily brow misery.  I have been getting my brows done at the closest nail shop, you know the one on every corner, for years.  I have never been good at tweezing, waxing, filling in and shaping my brows, ever.  So after years of frustration I decided a couple of months ago I would pay the $20.00 fee charged at the Ulta brow bar.  I assumed that this would be what I had been missing in my brow routine and I would come out looking like a normal women with really great brows.  Assumptions are dangerous and this one was as well.  The young lady didn’t have anyone in her chair and I hadn’t made an appointment so I asked if she had time.  She said sure and sat me down.  Not 1 minute later a lady approaches and says “Hey I’m here!”  Apparently I had been worked in during the 3 minute break between clients.  Whirlwind wax and pluck and out the door.  I wasn’t asked if I wanted any specific shape or if I needed any help with what I was using at home, nothing.  I had even brought my Urban Decay Brow Box along with every brow pencil I owned just to get some education.  The education came from the look of my brows afterwards.  I had a huge gap in the arch of my right brow along with no real shape to the other parts of my brows.

I decided to let my brows grow out.  I had been reading in a ton of beauty blogs that it was the thing to do, start fresh.  Over the last 3 months that is just what I’ve done, I couldn’t take it anymore and decided it was time.  My question was where do I go?  There is the nail places, Ulta (different location than last time), random beauty shop or the girl in the mall who does the threading.  As you already know I served time in prison and I have a deep understanding of threading, it hurts!  So I asked around at Sephora, they recommended the girl who does the threading, I asked at the Mac counter in Belk, Jackpot!  The two girls who work there knew a girl who used to work there.  So I said sounds good, best idea I had heard all day.

I was given the cell phone number of an aesthetician who had worked at Mac a few years ago and was currently working in a local beauty studio.  I made my appointment for the next day and off I went.  Sarah Crisp is a slender built, young lady with big beautiful eyes and a glow that just lets you know its all ok.  This was going to be perfect.  She had a great little room, dimmed light and a table to lay down on.  I laid down, shut my eyes and we just talked.  She asked me what I wanted in regards to my brows and I told her all about my journey that brought me to her.

Sarah put me at ease and the conversation was very pleasant.  She told me she had tinted my brows because they were so light and it would last a week or so.  She waxed and plucked for over 30 minutes.  She told me to sit up so she could see them while I was upright.  She plucked one here and one there.  She was finished, she handed me the mirror.

I’m not sure why I am so emotional about eye brows, I cried.  Tears streamed down my face as I looked in the little mirror, these were tears of joy.  They are beautiful, absolutely perfect!  Brushing my brows out is now my favorite part of my makeup routine.  I will visit her monthly to keep them looking perfect and the bonus is that she wants to help with the nonprofit.

Just like most, Sarah has been touched by addiction, her best friend has almost a year clean as well as an ex-boyfriend.  She offered her services as well as gift certificates we can auction off or sell for profit.  I believe God puts people in your path for a reason.  Sometimes we are unsure of the reason but this one is so clear.
If you are in my area and you would like to have Sarah’s contact information you may contact me and I will be very happy to pass it on to you.  She is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee and is a licensed aesthetician preforming facials as well.  I can’t wait to go back for my hour of pampering.  The brow service was $15.00 and worth so much more.
clip_image001
I finished my travel size Theraderm products and I bought another travel size so I could continue using it, I’m still not sure enough to jump in for the entire $150.00 full size system.  This time instead of the regular moisturizer I got the peptide hydrator to see if that might make a difference.  I’m not sure I am very happy with the results from use of the Theraderm system.  I have been using it every day for 7 weeks.  In the last 2 weeks I have begun using it twice a day.  Because it is a fruit acid exfoliate I have decided to go back to only once a day.  I picked up the Ole Henriksen 3 little wonders from Sephora on Friday.  I decided to add something hoping it will boast my results.  I also will have medical insurance in the next 30 days and look forward to seeing a dermatologist.
clip_image002
I believe I will give the Theraderm only until I finish this travel size.  I only got the small size of the Ole Henriksen 3 little wonders so I will also give it until I finish them as well.

Thank you so much for reading my blog.  The nonprofit is really coming together.  Everyone I speak to about it really believes it is a great idea and offers to help where they can.  I hope to post a poll as to the name here soon.

Much Love and God Bless,

KelleyJo
